Hipertensión pulmonar: estado actual del diagnóstico y manejo clínico


La hipertensión pulmonar (HP) se define por un aumento de la presión arterial pulmonar (PAP) media ≥ 25 mmHg en reposo evaluada por cateterismo cardiaco derecho.

La HP incluye diferentes formas que comparten un cuadro clínico similar y puede darse en múltiples enfermedades clínicas.

El término hipertensión arterial pulmonar (HAP) describe un grupo de pacientes con HP caracterizada hemodinámicamente por la presencia de HP pre-capilar. Del mismo modo, está definida por una presión de enclavamiento de la arteria pulmonar (PCP) ≤15 mmHg y una resistencia vascular pulmonar > 3 unidades Wood (UW) en ausencia de otras causas de HP pre-capilar como la HP debida a enfermedades pulmonares, la HP tromboembólica crónica u otras enfermedades.
